Project 5- Tube - Plaster, gesso, medical tube with deconstruction
Looking at the development of human civilization, we have undergone three major revolutions.
The First Industrial Revolution introduced the steam engine, which replaced manual labor with mechanized power.
The Second Industrial Revolution brought about electricity, significantly enhancing production efficiency.
Today, we are in the midst of the Third Revolution—often called the Digital Revolution. One of its most transformative innovations is the internet, which relies on optical fiber technology to transmit information at incredible speeds.
To me, optical fiber represents a medium that connects the invisible world to our physical reality. When we use Wi-Fi, it feels as if these unseen fibers are silently encircling us. They twist and wrap around our bodies, almost like an invisible web. This image reminds me of the tubes used in hospitals.
During medical treatments, those tubes are essential for delivering nutrients and sustaining life. In a similar way, optical fibers feed us with information, connecting and nourishing our digital existence.
